Selamat datang!

IndonesiaEducate is a blog dedicated for education world in Indonesia. Four of us – Daff, Je, Ken and Mariskova- are teachers who feel that education is the most important aspect in developing a nation. To us, education is a mind opener, a window to information, an opportunity for a better way of thinking. We hope we can bring in fresh air for critical thinking and nurture a better understanding among us. In the end, we believe that to care is to educate. ‘Only the educated are free’ is what Epictetus said (55AD-135AD).

In Indonesia, education is often regarded as or equals to formal schooling. Mark Twain says ‘I have never let my schooling interfere with my education’ (1835-1910). We believe that the definition of education goes beyond that. Education should include knowledge acquisition, critical thinking process, open-mindedness, creativity, and many other things that promote enlightenment.

How can we show that we care for Indonesia’s education?
If you have experiences in education system, why don’t you join us by contributing your articles to this blog? You can be teachers, educators, education consultant, students, or anyone in the education system. However, it doesn’t take a PhD title in education to start caring for education. Technically speaking, parents are the first educators of the next generation of Indonesia. Therefore, parents are also encouraged to join.

To begin with, you can read all kinds of sources related to education. You can also observe what is going on in education in Indonesia from newspaper, television, internet and other media. After that, share what you have observed to us. Write to us what you think. Encourage others to enrich your ideas. Or, you can also tell others what you think about their ideas. This exchange of ideas should cultivate common sense, positive communication, and non-judgmental perspectives. This exchange of ideas should in the end educate us.

Happy writing and reading!
